24/7 vs 16/7 Commercial Displays — Which Do You Need?
24/7 vs 16/7 Commercial Displays — Which Do You Need?
One of the most important decisions when buying a commercial display is the operation rating — 24/7 or 16/7. Getting this right saves money if you do not need 24/7, and prevents equipment failure if you do.
The Difference
| Feature | 16/7 Rated | 24/7 Rated |
|---|---|---|
| Daily Usage | Up to 16 hours | Non-stop, all day |
| Ideal For | Retail, office, school | Airport, hospital, 24h store |
| Panel Durability | Standard commercial | Enhanced thermal management |
| Price | Lower | Premium |
| Samsung Models | QBC, BE Series | QMC, QHC Series |
| LG Models | UM5J Series | UH5J Series |
When You Need 24/7
If your display will run more than 16 hours a day, or if it is in a mission-critical location (airport, hospital, transit), always choose 24/7 rated. Running a 16/7 display 24/7 will cause premature panel failure and void the warranty.
When 16/7 Is Enough
Standard retail stores (10am-10pm), offices (8am-6pm), schools, and restaurants with regular hours can safely use 16/7 displays and save significantly on hardware costs.
