The Vision V98 is a 98 inch 4K TV from Huawei, launched in the year 2021. It features a 10-bit IPS panel with Anti-glare/Matte finish.
The max. resolution it can display is 3840 x 2160 with a refresh rate of 120 Hz and a pixel density of 45 ppi.
Picture Quality
After screen size and resolution, the next important spec to look for in a display is its Color Reproduction Accuracy (defined by its color gamut specification).
The Huawei Vision V98 features 90% DCI P3 color gamut coverage. FYI, this is equivalent to 122.73% sRGB coverage. The color accuracy on this TV will be Lifelike!
Understanding the Color Gamut Specification
Color gamut specification of a TV indicates the range of colors that the TV can show.
A TV with poor color reproduction will produce undersaturated/washed out colors that will not be pretty to look at.
It is specified in different units - sRGB(most popular), NTSC 1953, DCI P3 etc. It is upto the manufacturer which one they choose.
As for this TV its color gamut is specified in DCI P3.
But don't worry, below is a chart that you can use to choose a TV with good color accuracy.
After color gamut, next in the list that will impact your experience is Static Contrast.
What is Static Contrast ratio ?
There are two types of contrast specifications for a TV. Static and Dynamic. We are interested in static contrast ratio. Dynamic doesn't matter much.
Static contrast specification defines the intensity of black levels. That is, a TV with static contrast ratio less than 1000:1 may produce black images something like this:

Note that, such TVs are likely to suffer from backlight bleeds that will impact your experience — as shown below.

Also, a TV with high constrast ratio lets you to see more details. So, resolution and static contrast ratio go hand in hand in a sense.
If given a choice, I will prefer a FHD TV with high contrast ratio over a 4K TV with low contrast ratio.
This TV is rated with a static contrast ratio of 1300 : 1. — good enough for a TV in this range.
As for brightness, the peak brightness it can achieve is 450 nits. The backlight used on the panel is Edge LED.
Gaming Performance
If you are going to use your TV other than watching videos — say as a PC monitor or Gaming, you should take a TV that features the lowest input lag. For gaming, both the input lag and response time affects the performance.
Unfortunately, there is no specification for input lag on this TV. Now, since this is not a cheap TV from Huawei, we can expect an input lag of less than 20ms.
Understanding Input lag and response time
This lag is the latency at which key-presses or mouse movements changes the content of your display. Though, this won't matter much if you aren't into competitive/FPS games like call of duty.
But ideally, look for a TV that features an input lag and response time of < 20ms.
Ergonomics and Dimensions
Coming to ergonomics — If you plan to wall mount the TV, you can make use of the VESA mount provided with this TV, which by the way has an interface size of 400 x 400 mm. It comes with Tilt feature, but there is no support for Swivel or Pivot.
Vertically, the TV measures 98 inches and horizontally 86.2 inches.
Coming to thickness, it is 3.15 inches thick. In total this TV weighs approximately 69.0 KGs including its stand. Without stand, it weighs 67.6 Kilograms.
Hardware and Audio
The core of this TV is powered by a 1.5 Ghz Quad Core (2x ARM Cortex-A73 + 2x ARM Cortex-A53) CPU while its graphics engine is handled by a 0.6 Ghz Quad Core (ARM Mali-G51 MP4) GPU. The total installed RAM on this TV is 4 GB.
To power its UI, the TV runs HarmonyOS 2.0 Operating System.
For display connectivity, there are three HDMI 2.0 ports, one S/PDIF port and one AV Composite In (Video + L/R) 1.4 port on this TV.
For connecting USB devices, you will have one USB 3.0 (Type-A — downstream) port. Other connectivity ports include — 1x Cable/Antenna In and 1x Ethernet RJ45.
Wireless connectivity options on the Huawei Vision V98 include a 5Ghz Wi-Fi, 2.5 Ghz Wi-Fi, Wifi-Direct, Bluetooth and DLNA.
In terms of power consumption, on average, this TV consumes about 960 Watts and on standby, it uses 1 Watts.
Both 110V and 220V lines are supported on this unit.
