Picture Quality

After screen size and resolution, the next important feature to look for in a Display is its Color Reproduction (defined by its color gamut specification).

Speaking of which, this monitor comes with 90% DCI P3 color gamut coverage — equivalent to 122.73% sRGB. The color accuracy on this monitor will be Lifelike! Thus, this display is also ideal for individuals who are interested in photo editing and color grading business.

What Color Gamut means ?

Color gamut spec of a display indicates the range of colors that the monitor can display.

A display with poor color accuracy will produce undersaturated/washed out colors that will spoil the immersion.

Different manufacturers use different units to define color gamut. Viz — sRGB, NTSC, DCI P3 Adobe RGB and rec.2020.

In case of this Monitor, its color gamut is specified using DCI P3.

But you don't need to worry about that, here is a chart that will help you choosing a Monitor with good color accuracy.

Color Gamut Chart

Now, after color gamut, the static contrast of a Monitor similarly impacts its picture quality.

The importance of static contrast ratio

A Display with low static contrast ratio will not produce deep blacks and can bleed backlight as in the below image:

Backlight bleed exampleThe image is an example of another display, it is not this one

The static contrast ratio of above Display is 800:1. So make sure you get a Display with a static contrast of >= 1000:1. Ofcourse, More the better.

Static contrast ratio and resolution go hand in hand when it comes to details. To put it into perspective, a Display with low contrast ratio will produce less shades of colors, thus lesser detail overall.

If given a choice, always prefer a FHD Display with high contrast ratio over a 4K Display with low contrast ratio.

This display is rated with a static contrast ratio of 3000 : 1, good enough to display deep blacks and eye-catching visuals.

Coming to brightness, the peak luminance the Display can produce is 300 nits, which is powered by W-LED backlight.

Gaming Performance

Now if you are a gamer, you would want to take a Monitor that features the lowest input lag and response times.

The input lag on the MSI Optix G321C is 5 ms and its minimum response time is 1 ms. Its the best you can get for gaming.

Understanding Input lag and response time

This lag is the latency at which key-presses/mouse movements changes the content of the screen. For casual Non-FPS games, input lag doesn't matter much.

But ideally, look for a Display that has an input lag and response time of less than 20ms.

Ergonomics and Dimensions

Now, speaking of ergonomics — If you plan to wall mount the Monitor, you can make use of 75 x 75 mm VESA mount (to be purchased separately). Swivel or Pivot are not supported on this Monitor, but it does support Tilt.

Vertically, the Monitor measures 32 inches and horizontally 27.74 inches.

In total this monitor weighs approximately 6.9 kgs including stand. Without stand, it weighs 5.7 Kilograms. So plan your desk space accordingly.

However, no USB ports are included on this unit.

As for power consumption, on average, this monitor consumes around 76.8W and on standby, it uses 0.5 W.
