The 43C635 is a 43 inch 4K TV from TCL. It was launched in 2022. It features a 10-bit VA panel. It can achieve a maximum resolution of 3840 x 2160 @ 60 Hz with a pixel density of 103 ppi.
Picture Quality
After screen size and resolution, the very next feature of a display that impacts picture quality is its Color Gamut.
This TV doesn't provide a color gamut specification, but don't worry, we have other means to guess that. Considering the TV comes with a 10bit VA panel, we can safely assume its equivalent sRGB coverage to be 100% or above. Undoubtedly The color accuracy on this TV will be Lifelike!
Understanding the Color Gamut Specification
Color gamut specification of a TV indicates the range of colors that the TV can display.
A TV with poor color reproduction will produce washed out colors that will spoil your immersive experience.
Different manufacturers use different measurement standards to specify color gamut. Such as — sRGB, NTSC 1953, DCI P3 etc.
But you don't need to worry about that, below is a chart that you can use to choose a TV with good color accuracy.
Other than color accuracy, you should look at the static contrast specification as it impacts the picture quality the same way.
Understanding Static Contrast
There are 2 types of contrast specifications for a TV. Static and Dynamic. We are interested in static contrast ratio. Dynamic doesn't matter much.
This defines the intensity of black levels. That is, a TV with SC ratio < 1000:1 will produce black images something like this:

Apart from that, such TVs are also prone backlight bleeds that will impact your experience — as shown below.

Think of static contrast as another dimension to details — just like resolution. To put it into perspective, a TV with low contrast ratio will produce less shades of colors, thus lesser detail overall.
If given a choice, I will prefer a FHD TV with high contrast ratio over a 4K TV with low contrast ratio.
This TV is rated with a static contrast ratio of 5000 : 1., enough to display deep blacks. The panel comes with local dimming which is a plus.
HDR10, HDR10+, Dolby Vision and HLG (Hybrid Log Gamma) are also supported on this TV.
As for brightness, it can go as bright as 250 nits. The backlight of this TV is powered by Direct LED technology.
Gaming Performance
If you aren't interested in gaming, you can safely ignore these specifications. But if you are also planning to use the TV for playing games or use it as a PC monitor, you would want to take a TV with the lowest input lag and response time.
Unfortunately, we cannot find the input lag specification for this unit. But as this is not a cheap TV from TCL, input lag on this TV could be 20ms or below.
What is Input Lag and Why it matters ?
This lag is the latency at which inputs changes the content of your TV. For casual Non-FPS games, input lag doesn't matter much.
But ideally, get a TV that comes with an input lag and response time of less than 20ms.
Ergonomics and Dimensions
Now, speaking of ergonomics — VESA mount is supported on this TV with an interface size of 200 x 200 mm. The unit doesn't come with either Swivel, Tilt or Pivot support.
The vertical and horizontal measurements of this TV are 37.72 inches and 24 inches respectively. It is 3.13 inches thick. In total it weighs approximately 8.4 Kgs including stand. Without stand, it weighs 8.3 kgs. So plan your space accordingly.
Hardware and Audio
The TV comes with a Quad Core 1.3 Ghz (ARM Cortex-A55) CPU while its graphics engine is handled by a 0.8 Ghz 2-Core (ARM Mali-G31) GPU.. There is no mention on the total RAM on the TV's specsheet.
For display connectivity, there are two HDMI 2.0 ports, one AV Composite In 3.5 mm jack port and one HDMI 2.1 (4:2:2) port on this TV.
USB ports include 1x USB 2.0 and 1x USB 3.0. Other connectivity ports include — 1x CI+ 1.4, 1x Satellite In (F-type female), 1x Antenna (RF) (female) and 1x Ethernet RJ45.
Regarding wireless connectivity, the manufacturer has provided a 5Ghz Wi-Fi, 2.5 Ghz Wi-Fi, Wifi-Direct, Bluetooth 5.0 and DLNA.
For audio, TCL has provided 2 x 10W speakers on the 43C635.
Now, coming to power usage, on average, it consumes about 49.73W. On standby, it takes 0.47 W.
For powering this unit, you will require either a 110V or 220V outlet @ 50Hz-60Hz.
