The XR-77A80K NA is a 77 inch 4K TV from Sony. It was launched in 2022. It features a True 10-bit OLED panel. It can display a maximum resolution of 3840 x 2160 @ 120 Hz with a pixel density of 57 ppi.
Picture Quality
After screen size and resolution, the next most important specification of a display is its Color Reproduction, which is defined by its color gamut specification.
This TV doesn't provide a color gamut specification, so we have to take a guess.
Since the TV features an OLED panel, there is no need to worry about color accuracy. Rest assured, OLED panels ALWAYS come with over 100% sRGB coverage.
What is Color gamut ?
Color gamut specification of a display indicates the range of colors that the display can show.
Meaning, this specification indicates the ability of a TV to produce accurate colors. A panel with low color gamut coverage will miss out on some colors (such as deep red), so the image produced will look "washed out" in colors.
Different manufacturers use different units to define color gamut. Viz — sRGB (standard RGB), NTSC 1953, DCI P3 Adobe RGB and rec.2020.
But don't worry, below is a chart that will help you choosing a TV with good color accuracy.
After color gamut, you should look at the static contrast specification as it influences the picture quality substantially.
What is Static Contrast ratio ?
A TV with low static contrast ratio will not produce deep blacks and possibly bleed backlight as shown below:

The static contrast ratio of above TV is rated 800:1. So make sure you get a TV with a static contrast of >= 1000:1. More is better.
Also, static contrast ratio and resolution go hand in hand when it comes to details. To put it into perspective, a TV with low contrast ratio will produce less shades of colors, thus lesser detail overall.
This TV comes with a static contrast ratio of Infinity:1. That's a plus point of owning an OLED TV. So no need to worry about this.
HDR is also supported on this TV in form of Dolby Vision, HDR10 and HLG (Hybrid Log Gamma).
As for brightness, it can go as bright as 250 nits.
Gaming Performance
If you are not planning to game on this TV, you can safely ignore these specs. But if you are also planning to use the TV for gaming or use it as a PC monitor, you should get a TV that features the lowest input lag and response time.
The input lag on the Sony XR-77A80K NA is 5 ms and its minimum response time is 1 ms. For a TV, its the best you can get for gaming.
What is Input lag ?
This lag is the latency at which your key-presses/mouse movements changes the content of the screen. Though, this won't matter much if you aren't into competitive/FPS games like call of duty.
But ideally, get a TV that has an input lag and response time of less than 20ms.
Dimensions and Ergonomics
The TV extends upto 77 inches (adjustable +1.65 in) vertically and 67.8 inches horizontally. In terms of thickness, it is just 2.13 inches thick. It weighs approximately 34.8 kilograms and an additional 2.2 kgs including stand. So plan your space accordingly.
Coming to ergonomics — If you plan to wall mount the TV, you can make use of the VESA mount provided with this TV, which by the way has an interface size of 300 x 300 mm. The unit doesn't come with Swivel, Tilt or Pivot support.
Hardware and Audio
For display connectivity, there are two HDMI 2.0 ports, two HDMI 2.1 ports and one AV Composite In 3.5 mm jack port on this TV.
To connect USB devices, you will have two USB ports. Other connectivity ports include — 1x Cable/Antenna In, 1x RS232 (C) and 1x Ethernet RJ45.
For connecting to this TV wirelessly, the manufacturer has provided Wi-Fi (5Ghz + 2.5Ghz), Wifi-Direct, Bluetooth and DLNA.
Coming to audio, Sony has provided 3 x 10W speakers on the TV. It also comes with a built-in sub-woofer. So you don't have to invest on any external sound system.
In terms of power usage, this TV consumes 157.39W on average and 0.5W on standby.
For powering this unit, you'll require either a 110V or 220V outlet @ 50Hz-60Hz.
