The 55EQ3EA is a 55 inch 4K TV from Sharp. It was launched in 2022. It features a 10-bit VA panel. The maximum resolution it can achieve is 3840 x 2160 with a refresh rate of 60 Hz and a pixel density of 80 ppi.
Picture Quality
After screen size and resolution, the next most important specification to look for in a display is its Color Reproduction, which is defined by its color gamut specification.
This TV features 94% DCI P3 color gamut coverage, which is equivalent to 128.18% sRGB. The color quality on this TV will be Lifelike!
What Color Gamut means ?
Color gamut spec of a display is a measure of the range of colors that it can show.
A TV with poor color accuracy will produce undersaturated/washed out colors that will spoil your immersive experience.
Different manufacturers use different units to define color gamut. Viz — sRGB (standard RGB), NTSC 1953, DCI P3 to name a few.
In case of this TV, its color gamut is specified in DCI P3.
But you don't need to worry about that, here is a chart that will help you choosing a TV with good color accuracy.
After color gamut, you should look at the static contrast specification as it influences the picture quality the same way.
Understanding the static contrast specification
A TV with low static contrast ratio will not produce deep blacks and possibly bleed backlight as below:

The static contrast ratio of above TV is 800:1. So make sure you get a TV with a static contrast of >= 1000:1. Ofcourse, More the better.
Think of static contrast as another dimension to details — just like resolution. To put it into perspective, a TV with low contrast ratio will show both dark gray and black as black, so lesser detail overall.
If given a choice, I will prefer a FHD TV with high contrast ratio over a 4K TV with low contrast ratio.
However, we couldn't find a static contrast ratio specification for this TV. So we have to make an assumptionhere. The static contrast ratio of this TV would be surely atleast 3000:1. the static contrast ratios of VA panels range between 3000:1 - 8000:1.
Dolby Vision, HDR10 and HLG (Hybrid Log Gamma) are also supported on this TV, so that's a plus.
Coming to brightness, the peak luminance the Sharp 55EQ3EA can produce is 500 nits with the help of Direct LED backlight.
Gaming Performance
If you are planning to use the TV other than using it as a TV — like as a PC monitor or Gaming, you would want to get a TV with lowest input lag. For gaming however, both input lag and response time affects the performance.
Sadly, we cannot find the input lag specification for this unit. Now, since this is not a cheap TV, input lag on this TV could be 20ms or below.
What is Input Lag and Why it matters ?
This lag is the amount of time at which inputs changes the content of your TV. For casual Non-FPS games, input lag doesn't matter much.
For best of both worlds, look for a TV that has an input lag and response time of less than 20ms.
Ergonomics and Dimensions
Now, speaking of ergonomics — VESA mount is supported on this TV with an interface size of 200 x 200 mm. The unit doesn't come with Swivel, Tilt or Pivot support.
The TV measures 55 inches vertically and 48.35 inches horizontally.
It is 2.4 inches thick. Overall, it weighs around 14.9 kilograms.
Hardware and Audio
The UI on this TV is powered by Android 11 Operating System.
For display connectivity, Sharp has provided four HDMI 2.0 ports and one AV Composite In 3.5 mm jack port on this TV.
To connect USB devices, you will have two USB 2.0 ports. Other connectivity ports include — 1x Satellite In (F-type female), 1x Antenna (RF) (female), 1x SD Memory Card Slot and 1x Ethernet RJ45.
For wireless connectivity, the manufacturer has provided a 5Ghz Wi-Fi, 2.5 Ghz Wi-Fi, Wifi-Direct, Bluetooth and DLNA.
The Audio unit of this TV is powered by 2 x 15W built-in speakers.
Now, coming to power usage, it uses 160 watts on average and 0.5 watts on standby.
For powering this unit, you'll need an 100 V - 120 V/50 Hz - 60 Hz outlet.
