Launched in the year 2022, the QE43LS03B is a 43" 4K TV from Samsung. It comes with a 10-bit VA panel with Anti-glare/Matte finish. It can display a max resolution of 3840 x 2160 @ 60 Hz with a pixel density of 103 ppi.
After screen size and resolution, the next important specification of a display is its Color Reproduction Accuracy (defined by its color gamut specification).
Speaking of which, this TV features 100% DCI P3 color gamut coverage — equivalent to 136.36% sRGB. The color quality on this TV will be Lifelike!
What is Color gamut ?
Color gamut spec of a TV indicates the range of colors that the display can produce.
A panel with poor color accuracy will produce undersaturated colors that will spoil your immersive experience.
Different manufacturers use different units to define color gamut. Such as — sRGB (standard RGB), NTSC 1953, DCI P3 etc.
In case of this TV, its color gamut is specified in DCI P3.
But you don't need to worry about that, here is a chart that will help you choosing a TV with good color accuracy.
Now, after color gamut, the static contrast of a TV similarly impacts its picture quality.
Understanding the static contrast ratio of a TV
A TV with high enough static contrast ratio will produce natural deep blacks while a TV with low contrast ratio (<1000:1) will produce images that may look dusty as shown below.
As you can imagine, this will rob your experience considerably.
Static contrast ratio and resolution go hand in hand when it comes to details. To put it into perspective, a TV with low contrast ratio will show both dark gray and black as black, so lesser detail overall.
If given a choice, I will prefer a FHD TV with high contrast ratio over a 4K TV with low contrast ratio.
This TV comes with a static contrast ratio of 8000:1., good enough to display deep blacks. The panel comes with local dimming technology which is a plus.
HDR is also supported on this TV in form of HDR10, HDR10+, HDR10+ Adaptive, HDR10+ Gaming, HLG (Hybrid Log Gamma) and Quantum HDR.
As for brightness, the peak brightness the Samsung QE43LS03B can produce is 250 nits, which is powered by Edge LED backlight.
If you aren't planning to game on this TV, you can safely ignore these specs. But if you are also going to use the TV for playing games or use it as a PC monitor, you would want to get a TV that features the lowest input lag and response time.
Unfortunately, we cannot find the input lag specification for this unit. Now, since this is not a cheap TV, input lag on this TV could be 20ms or below.
What is Input lag ?
This lag is the amount of time at which key-presses/mouse movements changes the content of the screen. For casual Non-FPS games, input lag doesn't matter much.
But ideally, look for a TV that has an input lag and response time of < 20ms.
Dimensions and Ergonomics
The vertical and horizontal measurements of this TV are 38.2 inches and 22 inches respectively.
Speaking of thickness, it is 1 inches thick.
In total this TV weighs around 8.89 KGs (including stand). Without stand, it weighs 8.62 kgs. So plan your space accordingly.
Now, speaking of ergonomics — a VESA mount with interface size of 200 x 200 mm is provided for wall-mounting. Tilt or Pivot are not supported on this TV, but it does support Swivel.
Hardware and Audio
The Samsung QE43LS03B comes with a 4-Core CPU. However, we could'nt find any info about the total available RAM on this TV.
Speaking of OS, the Samsung QE43LS03B runs Tizen 6.5 Operating System.
For display connectivity, there are four HDMI 2.0 ports on this TV.
For connecting USB devices, you will have two USB 2.0 ports. Other connectivity ports include — 1x Satellite In (F-type female), 1x Antenna (RF), 1x CI+ 1.4 and 1x Ethernet RJ45.
For wireless connections, the manufacturer has provided a 5Ghz Wi-Fi, 2.5 Ghz Wi-Fi, Wifi-Direct, Bluetooth and DLNA.
In terms of power usage, on average, it consumes about 65W and on standby, it takes 0.5 W.
Both 110V and 220V outlets are supported on this unit.
