ABOUT THIS TV

Panasonic TH-75LX900Z 400x400 Image Panasonic TH-75LX900Z

The TH-75LX900Z is a 75 inch 4K TV from Panasonic. It was launched in 2022. It features a 10-bit IPS panel.

The maximum resolution it can achieve is 3840 x 2160 with a refresh rate of 120 Hz and a pixel density of 59 ppi.

Picture Quality

After screen size and resolution, the next important specification of a display that defines picture quality is Color Gamut.

Panasonic did not provide a color gamut specification for this TV. So we have to take a guess.

As this TV features a 75 inch screen, it won't come with a cheap panel, so here we can assume its equivalent sRGB coverage to be 90-100% or above. The color quality on this TV should be Lifelike! It is capable of producing accurate colors AS IT IS intended.

What is Color gamut ?

Color gamut spec of a display indicates the range of colors that it can display.

A panel with poor color reproduction will produce undersaturated colors that will spoil the immersion.

It is specified in different units - sRGB,sRGB (standard RGB), NTSC 1953, DCI P3 etc. It is upto the manufacturer which one they choose.

But don't worry, below is a chart that will help you choosing a TV with good color accuracy.

Color Gamut Chart

Other than color accuracy, the static contrast of a TV similarly impacts its picture quality.

What is Static Contrast ?

There are 2 types of contrast specifications for a TV. Static and Dynamic. We are interested in static contrast ratio as dynamic doesn't matter much.

Static contrast specification defines the intensity of black levels. That is, a TV with SC ratio less than 1000:1 may produce black images something like this:

Example of a disply with low contrast ratio

Moreover, such TVs are likely be prone to backlight bleeds that will affect your experience — as shown below.

Also note, static contrast ratio and resolution go hand in hand when it comes to details. To put it into perspective, a TV with low contrast ratio will produce less shades of colors, so lesser detail overall.

This TV features a static contrast ratio of 8000:1., well enough to achieve deep blacks and eye-catching visuals. The panel comes with local dimming backlight which is a plus.

HDR is also supported on this TV in form of HDR10, HDR10+, HLG (Hybrid Log Gamma), Dolby Vision, Dolby Vision IQ and HDR10+ Adaptive.

As for brightness, the peak luminance it can produce is 250 nits. The backlight of this TV is powered by Edge LED technology.

Gaming Performance

If you are planning to use your TV just for content consumption, you can safely ignore these specs. But if you are also going to use the TV for gaming or use it as a PC monitor, you would want to get a TV that features the lowest input lag and response time.

Unfortunately, Panasonic did not specify the input lag on this unit. Now, since this is not a cheap TV, input lag on this TV could be 20ms or below.

What is Input Lag and Why it matters ?

This lag is the amount of time at which key-presses/mouse movements changes the content of your display. For casual Non-FPS games, input lag doesn't matter much.

But ideally, look for a TV that has an input lag and response time of less than 20ms.

Ergonomics and Dimensions

Now, coming to ergonomics — If you plan to wall mount the TV, you can make use of the VESA mount provided with this TV, which by the way has an interface size of 600 x 300 mm. Swivel, Tilt or Pivot features are not supported on this unit.

The width of this TV is 66.14 inches while its height is 40.91 inches. It is just 2.36 inches thick. It weighs 45.0 kgs and 5 kgs extra including stand.
