The 65NANO786QA is a 65 inch 4K TV from LG, launched in the year 2022. It features a 10-bit VA panel.
It can achieve a max resolution of 3840 x 2160 with a refresh rate of 60 Hz and pixel density of 68 ppi.
After screen size and resolution, the next important feature to look for in a display is its Color Reproduction (defined by its color gamut specification).
LG did not provide a color gamut rating for this TV. But don't worry, we have other means to guess that.
As this TV features amassive 65 inch screen, it won't come with a cheap panel, so here we can assume its equivalent sRGB coverage to be 90-100% or above. The color accuracy on this TV will be Lifelike! Meaning it will produce color accurate images by default.
What Color Gamut means ?
Color gamut specification of a display is the measurement of the range of colors that it can show.
Meaning, it indicates the ability of a display to produce accurate colors. A display with low color gamut coverage will miss out on some colors (such as deep red), so the image produced will look "washed out" in colors.
Different manufacturers use different measurement standards to specify color gamut. Viz — sRGB (most popular), NTSC 1953, DCI P3 etc.
But you don't need to worry about that, here is a chart that will help you choosing a TV with good color accuracy.
After color gamut, you should look at the static contrast specification as it impacts the picture quality the same way.
Why its important?
A TV with low static contrast ratio will not produce deep blacks and possibly can bleed backlight as below:The image is an example of another display, it is not this one
The static contrast ratio of above TV is rated 800:1. So make sure you get a TV with a static contrast of >= 1000:1. More is better.
Also, static contrast ratio and resolution go hand in hand when it comes to details. To put it into perspective, a TV with low contrast ratio will show both dark gray and black as black, thus lesser detail overall.
If given a choice, always prefer a FHD TV with high contrast ratio over a 4K TV with low contrast ratio.
There's no mention of this specification in this TV's official specsheet. So once again we have to make an assumption based on the TV's other specifications. For a TV with VA panel, the static contrast ratio will surely atleast be 3000:1 or above.
HDR is also supported on this TV in form of HDR10 Pro and HLG (Hybrid Log Gamma).
Coming to brightness, it can go as bright as 250 nits. The panel of this TV is powered by Direct LED backlight technology.
If you aren't planning to game on this TV, you can safely ignore these specs. But if you are also planning to use the TV for gaming or use it as a PC monitor, you should take a TV with the lowest input lag and response time.
Sadly, we cannot find the input lag specification for this unit. But since this is not a cheap TV, input lag on this TV could be 20ms or below.
What is Input Lag and Why it matters ?
This lag is the latency at which your key-presses or mouse movements changes the content of your TV. Though, this won't matter much if you aren't into competitive/FPS games like call of duty.
For best of both worlds, get a TV that comes with an input lag and response time of less than 20ms.
Ergonomics and Dimensions
Now, speaking of ergonomics — a VESA mount with interface size of 300 x 300 mm is provided for wall-mounting. There is no Swivel, Tilt or Pivot feature support in this TV.
