Launched in the year 2022, the 65NANO766QA is a 65" 4K TV from LG. It comes with a 10-bit VA panel. It can display a maximum resolution of 3840 x 2160 @ 60 Hz with a pixel density of 68 ppi.
After screen size and resolution, the next important specification of a display is its Color Reproduction Accuracy, which is defined by its color gamut specification.
This TV doesn't come with a color gamut specification, so we have to take a guess.
Now, since the TV features amassive 65 inch screen, it won't come with a cheap panel, so here we can assume its equivalent sRGB coverage to be 90-100% or above. The color quality on this TV should be Lifelike! It will produce accurate colors AS IT IS intended.
What is Color gamut ?
Color gamut spec of a display is the measurement of the range of colors that the display can display.
Put Simply, this specification determines the ability of a TV to produce accurate colors. A panel with low color gamut coverage will miss out on some colors (such as deep red), so the image produced will look "washed out" in colors.
It is specified in different units - sRGB(most popular), NTSC, DCI P3 etc. It is upto the manufacturer which one they choose.
But don't worry, below is a chart that will help you choosing a TV with good color accuracy.
After color gamut, the static contrast of a TV similarly impacts its picture quality.
Understanding the static contrast ratio
Static contrast ratio of a TV corresponds to its Black levels. A TV with low static contrast ratio (<1000:1) will not produce deep blacks. Moreover, such displays often suffer from backlight bleeds such as below:The image is an example of another display, it is not this one
Needless to say, this will impact your viewing experience considerably, especially in a dark room.
Also, a TV with high constrast ratio lets you to see more details. So, resolution and static contrast ratio go hand in hand in a sense.
If given a choice, I will prefer a FHD TV with high contrast ratio over a 4K TV with low contrast ratio.
There is no mention of this specification in the TV's official datasheet. Again we have to take a guess based on the TV's other specifications. If you are reading our blogs, you may already know that VA panels always come with impressive contrast ratios. As you know, this TV features the same, so you can expect the static contrast ratio to be atleast 3000:1 or above.
HDR is also supported on this TV in form of HDR10 Pro and HLG (Hybrid Log Gamma).
Coming to brightness, it can go as bright as 250 nits, powered by Direct LED backlight technology.
If you are not planning to game on this TV, you can safely ignore these specifications. But if you are also going to use the TV for gaming or use it as a PC monitor, make sure to get a TV with the lowest input lag and response time.
Sadly, we cannot find the input lag specification for this unit. But as this is not a cheap TV from LG, we can expect an input lag of less than 20ms.
Understanding Input lag and response time
This lag is the amount of time at which your key-presses/mouse movements changes the content of your TV. Though, this won't matter much if you aren't into competitive/FPS games like call of duty.
For best of both worlds, look for a TV that has an input lag and response time of less than 20ms.
Dimensions and Ergonomics
The vertical and horizontal measurements of this TV are 57.24 inches and 35.75 inches respectively.
Speaking of thickness, it is just 2.3 inches thick.
It weighs around 22.6 kgs, another 1.4 kgs if you include stand.
Coming to ergonomics — If you plan to wall mount the TV, you can make use of the VESA mount provided with this TV, which by the way has an interface size of 300 x 300 mm. Swivel, Tilt or Pivot features are not supported on this unit.
Hardware and Audio
The core of this TV is powered by a Quad Core CPU. However, we could'nt find any information on the total available RAM on this TV.
The UI on this TV is powered by webOS 22 Operating System.
For display connectivity, there are three HDMI 2.0 ports on this TV.
To connect USB devices, it includes two USB 2.0 ports. Other connectivity ports include — 1x Satellite In (F-type female), 1x Antenna (RF) (female), 1x CI+ 2.0 and 1x Ethernet RJ45.
For connecting to this TV wirelessly, the manufacturer has provided a 5Ghz Wi-Fi, 2.5 Ghz Wi-Fi, Wifi-Direct, Bluetooth 5.0 and DLNA.
The Audio unit of this TV is powered by 2 x 10W speakers.
In terms of power consumption, on average, it uses 111 watts. On standby, it uses 0.5 watts.
Both 110V and 220V outlets are supported on this unit.
