The 50UQ90009LA is a 50 inch 4K TV from LG, launched in the year 2022. It comes with a True 8-bit VA panel. The maximum resolution it can achieve is 3840 x 2160 @ 60 Hz with a pixel density of 89 ppi.
Picture Quality
Now, the very next specification of a display that impacts picture quality is its Color Gamut.
LG did not provide a color gamut rating for this TV. But don't worry, we have other means to guess that. Now, since the TV features a big 50 inch screen, it won't come with a cheap panel, so here we can assume its equivalent sRGB coverage to be 90-100% or above. Undoubtedly The color accuracy on this TV will be Lifelike! Meaning it is capable of producing accurate colors.
Understanding the Color Gamut Specification
Color gamut specification of a display is a measure of the range of colors that the display can produce.
A TV with poor color reproduction will produce washed out colors that will spoil the immersion.
It is specified in different units - sRGB(most popular), NTSC, DCI P3 to name a few. It is upto the manufacturer which one they choose.
But you don't need to worry about that, below is a chart that you can use to choose a TV with good color accuracy.
Other than color accuracy, you should look at the static contrast specification as it impacts the picture quality the same way.
What is Static Contrast ?
There are two types of contrast specifications for a TV. Static and Dynamic. We are interested in static contrast ratio. Dynamic doesn't matter much.
This specification defines the intensity of black levels. That is, a TV with SC ratio less than 1000:1 will produce black images something like this:

Note that, such TVs are likely be prone to backlight bleeds that will rob your experience — as shown below.

Also note, static contrast ratio and resolution go hand in hand when it comes to details. To put it into perspective, a TV with low contrast ratio will produce less shades of colors, thus lesser detail overall.
If given a choice, I will prefer a FHD TV with high contrast ratio over a 4K TV with low contrast ratio.
We were not able to find a static contrast ratio specification for this TV. Once again we have to make an assumption. The static contrast ratio of this TV would be surely atleast 3000:1. As you know that this TV comes with a VA panel - VA panels always by nature offer high contrast ratios.
HDR is also supported on this TV in form of HDR10 Pro and HLG (Hybrid Log Gamma).
Coming to brightness, the peak luminance it can achieve is 250 nits. The backlight of this TV is powered by Direct LED technology.
Gaming Performance
If you are planning to use your TV only for content consumption, you can safely ignore these specifications. But if you are also going to use the TV for gaming or use it as a PC monitor, you should take a TV that features the lowest input lag and response time.
Unfortunately, we cannot find the input lag specification for this unit. Now, since this is not a cheap TV from LG, we can expect an input lag of less than 20ms.
What is Input Lag and Why it matters ?
This lag is the amount of time at which inputs changes the content of the screen. For casual Non-FPS games, input lag doesn't matter much.
For best of both worlds, get a TV that has an input lag and response time of less than 20ms.
Ergonomics and Dimensions
Now, speaking of ergonomics — a VESA mount with interface size of 200 x 200 mm is provided for wall-mounting. The unit doesn't come with Swivel, Tilt or Pivot support.
The width of this TV is 44.13 inches while its height is 27.87 inches.
It is just 2.25 inches thick. It weighs around 11.7 kilograms and 0.2 kgs extra if you include stand. So plan your space accordingly.
Hardware and Audio
The internals of LG 50UQ90009LA is powered by Quad Core CPU. However, we could'nt find any specification on the available RAM on the TV's official specsheet.
The Operating System on this TV is webOS 22.
For display connectivity, there are three HDMI 2.0 ports on this TV.
To connect USB devices, you will have two USB 2.0 ports. Other connectivity ports include — 1x Satellite In (F-type female), 1x Antenna (RF) (female), 1x CI+ 2.0 and 1x Ethernet RJ45.
Wireless connectivity options on this TV include a 5Ghz Wi-Fi, 2.5 Ghz Wi-Fi, Wifi-Direct, Bluetooth 5.0 and DLNA.
Now, speaking of speakers, LG has provided 2 x 10W built-in speakers on the 50UQ90009LA.
As for power consumption, it consumes 69 watts on average and 0.5 watts on standby.
For powering this unit, you will need an 220 V - 240 V/50 Hz - 60 Hz outlet.
