The 55HAK5350 is a 55 inch 4K TV from Hitachi, launched in the year 2021. It features a 10-bit IPS panel. The max. resolution it can achieve is 3840 x 2160 with a refresh rate of 60 Hz and a pixel density of 80 ppi.
Picture Quality
After screen size and resolution, the next important specification of a display that will impact your viewing experience is Color Gamut.
This TV doesn't provide a color gamut specification, so we have to take a guess. Considering the TV features a big 55 inch screen, it won't come with a cheap panel, so here we can assume its equivalent sRGB coverage to be 90-100% or above. Undoubtedly The color quality on this TV will be Lifelike! It will produce color accurate images AS IT IS intended.
Understanding Color Gamut
Color gamut spec of a TV is a measure of the range of colors that it can produce.
A TV with poor color accuracy will produce undersaturated/washed out colors that will spoil your immersive experience.
It is specified in different units - sRGB,sRGB (standard RGB), NTSC 1953, DCI P3 etc.
But don't worry, here is a chart that you can use to choose a TV with good color accuracy.
Other than color accuracy, the static contrast ratio of a TV has equally important role in picture quality.
What is Static Contrast ratio ?
A TV with low static contrast ratio will not produce deep blacks and can bleed backlight as in the below image:
The image is an example of another display, it is not this oneThe above TV's static contrast is 800:1. So make sure you get a TV with a static contrast of >= 1000:1. More is better.
Like resolution, the static contrast ratio is also equally responsible for details. To put it into perspective, a TV with low contrast ratio will show both dark gray and black as black, so lesser detail overall.
This TV is rated with a static contrast ratio of 8000:1., enough to achieve deep blacks. The panel comes with local dimming backlight technology which is a plus.
HDR is also supported on this TV in form of HLG (Hybrid Log Gamma), HDR, HDR10 and Dolby Vision.
As for brightness, it can go as bright as 350 nits. The backlight of this TV is powered by Direct LED technology.
Gaming Performance
If you are planning to use your TV solely for content consumption, you can safely ignore these specifications. But if you are also going to use the TV for gaming or use it as a PC monitor, make sure to take a TV that features the lowest input lag and response time.
Sadly, Hitachi did not specify the input lag on this unit. Now, as this is not a cheap TV from Hitachi, we can expect an input lag of less than 20ms.
What is Input Lag and Why it matters ?
This lag is the amount of time at which inputs changes the content of your display. For casual Non-FPS games, input lag doesn't matter much.
But ideally, look for a TV that comes with an input lag and response time of less than 20ms.
Ergonomics and Dimensions
Now, speaking of ergonomics — a VESA mount with interface size of 200 x 200 mm is provided for wall-mounting. Swivel, Tilt or Pivot features are not supported on this unit.
Vertically, the TV measures 55 inches and horizontally 48.94 inches.
It is just 3.23 inches thick.
In total the TV weighs 12.9 KGs (including stand). Without stand, it weighs 10.4 Kilograms. So plan your space accordingly.

The internals of this TV is powered by 4-Core CPU. However, Hitachi didn't provide any specification on the total available RAM on this TV.
To power its UI, the TV runs Android TV Operating System.
For display connectivity, there are three HDMI 2.0 (ARC; CEC) ports on this TV.
To connect USB devices, you will have two USB 2.0 ports. Other connectivity ports include — 1x Satellite In (Main — F-type female), 1x CI+ 1.4, 1x Antenna (RF) (female) and 1x Ethernet RJ45.
For connecting to this TV wirelessly, you will have — a 5Ghz Wi-Fi, 2.5 Ghz Wi-Fi, Wifi-Direct, Bluetooth and DLNA.
The Audio unit of this TV is powered by 2 x 12W built-in speakers.
Now, coming to power consumption, it uses 131.2 watts on average and 0.5 watts on standby.
