Hisense 65A85H

Hisense 65A85H 400x400 Image Hisense 65A85H

The 65A85H is a 65 inch 4K TV from Hisense, launched in the year 2022. It features a True 10-bit OLED panel with Anti-glare/Matte finish. The max. resolution it can display is 3840 x 2160 @ 120 Hz with a pixel density of 68 ppi.

Picture Quality

Now, the very next feature of a display that impacts picture quality is Color Gamut.

The Hisense 65A85H is rated with a 97% DCI P3 color gamut coverage. This is equivalent to 132.27% sRGB coverage. The color quality on this TV will be Lifelike!

What Color Gamut means ?

Color gamut spec of a TV is the measurement of the range of colors that it can show.

A panel with poor color reproduction will produce washed out colors that will not be pretty to look at.

It is specified in different units - sRGB,sRGB (standard RGB), NTSC, DCI P3 Adobe RGB, rec.2020. It is upto the manufacturer which one they choose.

In case of this TV, its color gamut is specified using DCI P3.

But don't worry, here is a chart that you can use to choose a TV with good color accuracy.

Color Gamut Chart

Other than color accuracy, the static contrast of a TV similarly impacts its picture quality.

Understanding the static contrast ratio of a TV

A TV with high enough static contrast ratio will produce deep blacks while a TV with low contrast ratio (<1000:1) will produce images that might look muddy as shown below.

Example of a display with low contrast ratio

As you can imagine, this will impact your experience considerably.

Other than black levels, a TV with high constrast ratio enables you to see more details. So, resolution and static contrast ratio go hand in hand in a sense.

If given a choice, I will prefer a FHD TV with high contrast ratio over a 4K TV with low contrast ratio.

Given this TV comes with an OLED panel, its static constrast would be Infinity : 1. So no need to worry about this at all.

HLG (Hybrid Log Gamma), HDR10+, HDR10, Dolby Vision and Dolby Vision IQ are also supported on this TV.

Coming to brightness, it is can achieve a maximum brightness of 800 nits. This amount of brightness is good enough even for a room with sun's rays in!

Gaming Performance

Now if you are going to use a TV other than using it as a TV — say as a PC monitor or for gaming purposes, make sure to get a TV with lowest input lag. For gaming however, both the input lag and response time impacts the performance.

The input lag on the Hisense 65A85H is 5 ms and its minimum response time is 3 ms. Pick this one if you are a gamer.

What is Input lag ?

This lag is the amount of time at which your key-presses or mouse movements changes the content of your TV. For casual Non-FPS games, input lag doesn't matter much.

But ideally, get a TV that has an input lag and response time of < 20ms.

Dimensions and Ergonomics

Vertically, the TV measures 65 inches and horizontally 57 inches. Coming to thickness, it is 2.68 inches thick. It weighs around 25.5 kgs, another 3.5 kgs if you include stand. So plan your space accordingly.

Speaking of ergonomics — a VESA mount with interface size of 300 x 200 mm is provided for wall-mounting. Tilt or Pivot are not supported on this TV, but it does support Swivel.

Hardware and Audio

The chipset of this TV is powered by a Quad Core (MediaTek MT9900) CPU. However, Hisense didn't provide any specification about the RAM on the TV's official specsheet.

The Operating System on this TV is VIDAA U6.0.

For display connectivity, Hisense has provided two HDMI 2.0 (CEC) ports, one AV Composite In 3.5 mm jack port and two HDMI 2.1 ports on this TV.
