Picture Quality

Now, the next important specification of a Display that impacts picture quality is Color Gamut.

Speaking of which, this monitor features 97% DCI P3 color gamut coverage. FYI, this is equivalent to 131.73% sRGB coverage. The color quality on this monitor should be Lifelike! Thus, it will also be useful for professional photographers who are interested in photo editing or color grading business.

Understanding Color Gamut

Color gamut spec of a Monitor is a measure of the range of colors that the monitor can show.

Put Simply, it determines the ability of a display to produce accurate colors. A monitor with low gamut coverage will miss out on some colors (such as deep red), thus producing a "washed out" picture.

It is specified in different units - sRGB,sRGB (standard RGB), NTSC 1953, DCI P3 Adobe RGB, rec.2020.

For example, the color gamut of this Monitor is specified in DCI P3.

But you don't need to worry about that, here is a chart that you can use to choose a Monitor with good color accuracy.

Color Gamut Chart

Now, after color gamut, the static contrast specification of a Monitor has equally important role in picture quality.

What is Static Contrast ?

A Display with low static contrast ratio will not produce deep enough blacks and can bleed backlight as shown in the images below:

The above Monitor's static contrast is 800:1. So make sure you get a Display with a static contrast of >= 1000:1. Ofcourse, More is better.

Static contrast ratio and resolution go hand in hand when it comes to details. To put it into perspective, a Display with low contrast ratio will show both dark gray and black as black, thus lesser detail overall.

This Monitor comes with a static contrast ratio of 1000 : 1 — good enough for a display in this range.

HDR10 is also supported on this Monitor, so that's a plus.

Coming to brightness of this Display, it can go as bright as 450 nits, powered by W-LED backlight technology.

Gaming Performance

If you need a display for gaming, make sure to take a Monitor that features the lowest input lag and response times.

The input lag on the Pixio PX277 Pro is 5 ms and its minimum response time is 1 ms. Gamers gonna love this Monitor.

What is Input lag ?

This lag is the amount of time at which key-presses/mouse movements changes the content of your display. Though, this won't matter much if you aren't into competitive/FPS games like call of duty.

Although for better experience, look for a Monitor that comes with an input lag and response time of < 20ms.
