Launched in the year 2022, the Pixio PX222 is a 22" Full HD Monitor from Pixio. It comes with a 8-bit VA panel with Anti-glare/Matte (3H) finish.

It can achieve a max resolution of 1920 x 1080 with a refresh rate of 75 Hz and pixel density of 102 ppi.

Picture Quality

After screen size and resolution, the next most important specification of a Display is its Color Reproduction (defined by its color gamut specification).

This Monitor is rated with a 78% DCI P3 color gamut coverage. This is equivalent to 107.05% sRGB coverage. The color accuracy on this monitor will be Lifelike! Thus, it is also ideal for individuals who are interested in photo editing and color grading business.

What Color Gamut means ?

Color gamut spec of a display indicates the range of colors that the display can produce.

A display with poor color reproduction will produce washed out colors that will not be pretty to look at.

Different manufacturers use different units to define color gamut. Such as — sRGB (most popular), NTSC, DCI P3 to name a few.

For example, the color gamut of this Monitor is specified using DCI P3.

But you don't need to worry about that, below is a chart that you can use to choose a Monitor with good color accuracy.

Color Gamut Chart

Now, after color gamut, the static contrast ratio of a monitor holds almost equal role in picture quality.

Understanding the static contrast ratio of a Display

Static contrast ratio of a Display corresponds to its Black levels. A Display with low static contrast ratio (less than 1000:1) will not produce deep blacks. Apart from this, such monitors are likely to suffer from backlight bleeds such as this:

Clearly this will affect your experience, especially in a dark room.

Also, a Display with high constrast ratio enables you to see more details. So, resolution and static contrast ratio go hand in hand in a sense.

If given a choice, always prefer a FHD Display with high contrast ratio over a 4K Display with low contrast ratio.

This monitor is rated with a static contrast ratio of 3000 : 1, enough to display deep blacks and eye-catching visuals.

Coming to brightness, the peak luminance the Pixio PX222 can produce is 250 nits. The backlight of this Monitor is powered by W-LED technology.

Gaming Performance

Now if you need a display primarily for gaming, make sure to get a Monitor that features the lowest input lag and response times.

Unfortunately, there is no specification for input lag on this Monitor. Now, VA panels in general are known for high input lags and response times. So, expect the input lag to be greater than 20ms. Though, Non-FPS and casual games should be playable.

Understanding Input lag and response time

This lag is the latency at which key-presses/mouse movements changes the content of your Monitor. Though, this won't matter much if you aren't into competitive/FPS games like call of duty.

But ideally, get a Monitor that has an input lag and response time of less than 20ms.

Ergonomics and Dimensions

Now, coming to ergonomics — VESA mount is supported on this Monitor with an interface size of 75 x 75 mm. Swivel or Pivot are not supported on this Monitor, but it does support Tilt.

The width of this Display is 19.36 inches while its height is 13.85 inches.

It is just 0.27 inches thick.

It weighs 1.25 kilograms and an additional 0.7 kgs including its stand. So plan your desk space accordingly.

For display connectivity, Pixio has provided one HDMI 1.4 port and one D-sub port on this Monitor.

However, no USB ports are included on this unit.

The monitor also comes with 2 x 2W built-in speakers.

As for power consumption, this monitor uses 35.2 Watts on average and 0.5 Watts on standby.

Both 110V and 220V lines are supported on this unit.
